Solbakken. 2 rooms. 46 m². From 7,170 DKK/month.
Solbakken is a family-friendly dormitory with a strong green and social profile. The dormitory primarily caters to families and single parents with children, but couples without children are also welcome to apply. However, families with children will have first priority. To qualify for housing, both applicants must be students in Copenhagen with at least two years of study time left in a SU-eligible education that requires a minimum of 23 hours of weekly teaching.
The dormitory offers childcare options in an integrated institution, which includes a nursery on the 11th floor and a kindergarten on the ground floor. Places in these institutions are allocated through the municipality. Parents can study in the dormitory's study room or apply for access to one of the specialized rooms for writing assignments.
After the institution's opening hours, there are ample opportunities for both play and social interaction in the dormitory's common room, which also houses the Solbar and a shared TV area. The dormitory consists of 138 two-room apartments of 63 square meters, all equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and balconies facing both north and south. The apartments are practically designed with a kitchen located in the hallway leading to two spacious rooms. From the rooms, there is access to a south-facing balcony that offers a beautiful view of the green common areas.
In addition, there is a closed entrance with storage options and a hallway to the bathroom, which is equipped with a separate shower. The dormitory also offers practical facilities such as stroller and bicycle parking both indoors and outdoors, a gym in the basement, and an elevator in each stairwell. Pets such as cats and dogs up to 15 kg are welcome.
Solbakken has a strong environmental focus. The laundry uses reclaimed water, and both cleaning and shopping are largely organic and sustainable. There are also facilities for recycling and waste sorting. The dormitory is located in a green and attractive area between Valbyparken, Vestre Kirkegård, Carls Have, and Søndermarken, just a few minutes' walk from Carlsberg Station. There are playgrounds and a municipal park on the south side, where the dormitory's chickens also reside. The chickens are cared for on a rotational basis among the residents.
Various committees in the dormitory organize activities such as clothing swap days and communal dinners. When the weather permits, the residents often gather around grills and bonfire sites. For private events, residents can rent the Residents' House and the Lobby at favorable prices. Overnight facilities on the ground floor and the 11th floor can also be rented.
It is important to note that Solbakken is a smoke-free dormitory. All applicants must have at least two years of study time left on the move-in date, which means that both applicants must be active students. Read more about the dormitory on their website.
