Welcome to Ryesgadekollegiet – A Place Focused on Community

Ryesgadekollegiet is the ideal home for you if you wish to live in a place where community and togetherness are paramount. The dormitory functions as a collective with shared kitchens and bathrooms, creating a unique atmosphere of belonging among the residents. Here, it is expected that we all participate in the communal tasks, such as lending a helping hand during the dormitory's annual workday, where we both work and enjoy each other's company.

As part of dormitory life, we have a number of social events that bring us closer together. You can participate in our semi-annual floor crawl, spontaneous Friday bars, movie nights, and much more. These activities give you the opportunity to get to know the other residents across the floors.

Ryesgadekollegiet is a small, cozy place with only 42 rooms spread over five floors. Each floor has seven rooms, a shared kitchen, and shared toilets, which the residents maintain. Two of the rooms have their own toilet, and in addition, we offer two one-room apartments for those who desire a bit of privacy. The rooms vary in size from 13 to 21 square meters.

The dormitory is located in a historic building that exudes stories from the past. Among other things, the Battle of Ryesgade took place here – an important event where occupiers and police faced each other in a time of great housing shortage in Copenhagen.

The surroundings of the dormitory are both beautiful and vibrant, with the Lakes and Fælledparken as its nearest neighbors. We share a large courtyard with the surrounding properties, ensuring a constantly lively atmosphere. From the courtyard, there is access to the dormitory's common room, which can be freely used by the residents.

For those interested in experiencing the charm of the dormitory, we hold two annual tours where you can get a sense of our unique community. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and have at least one year left of their studies to be considered.

Among the facilities at Ryesgadekollegiet, you will find a common room/party venue, a lovely courtyard environment, internet in all rooms, and a laundry room. Please note that children or pets are not allowed in the dormitory, and the waiting time for a room is approximately 2 to 2½ years from registration.
