Bikuben Kollegiet: A Dynamic and Social Community in Ørestad Nord

Bikuben Kollegiet, which opened its doors to its first residents in 2006, is located in the vibrant Ørestad Nord. The dormitory offers modern facilities, such as private kitchens and bathrooms, as well as both communal and private options for cooking and hygiene. The waiting time for a two-room apartment typically ranges from 6 to 12 months, while it can take over a year to get a one-room apartment.

At Bikuben Kollegiet, there is a strong focus on creating a lively community among residents. The dormitory's multicultural resident composition means that you meet people from different educational backgrounds and geographical origins. As a resident, you have the opportunity to engage in social life and immerse yourself in your studies.

The dormitory places a high value on social interaction, and there are many opportunities to participate in activities such as cooking clubs, 'Tour de chambre', and movie nights. Across the floors, larger events such as parties, dinners, and lectures are also held. Additionally, there are opportunities to participate in excursions to nearby attractions like Ismageriet. A special residents' council organizes an annual cleaning day where everyone contributes to keeping the dormitory neat and clean.

Bikuben Kollegiet also offers many different committees that allow residents to organize events and meet each other across different interests. Residents can engage in the residents' council, participate in the party committee, or pursue their interests in various thematic committees such as the Humlehave committee or the Wine committee. Participation in these committees is an important part of the dormitory's social life.

The Bikuben Foundation, which owns the dormitory, works purposefully to create social improvements. In addition to providing students with a good base, the foundation has also allocated 10 spots for young people who have been on the fringes of society. These young people receive both social and academic support to become an integrated part of the dormitory.

The dormitory has a range of facilities, including a party hall, a large rooftop terrace with views over Copenhagen, common rooms with TVs on each floor, and a bike workshop. There is also a gym available. The dormitory has three accessible apartments that can accommodate up to two people.

The dormitory is ideally located for students, especially those attending the University of Copenhagen Amager or the IT University. With metro stations within a five-minute walk, it is easy to get around Copenhagen, and it only takes about 12 minutes by metro to reach Copenhagen Business School.

It is possible to apply for housing benefits, and expenses for water, heating, and electricity are settled according to meters. Internet and antenna fees are charged separately along with the rent. To secure a place in the dormitory, one can apply for a special expedited position on the waiting list by submitting a motivated application to the admissions committee.
